nekaterih trdnih Schiffovih bazah pride pri spreminjanju temperature do
spremembe barve. Barva se lahko spremeni tudi pod vplivom svetlobe. Sprememba
barve je povezana s preskokom vodika v vodikovi vezi O-H...N.
